Ruby Marie Roach, 87, of Stanardsville passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
Ruby was born November 24, 1926 in Greene County. She was the daughter of the late Jesse James Shifflett and Katie Knight Shifflett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert S. Roach; three sisters, Bernice Deane, Gladys Taylor and Dorothy Lam; two brothers, Otis Shifflett and Junior Shifflett.
Ruby is survived by her two sons, Gary and his wife, Wanda of Ruckersville, Fred and his fiancée, Wanda also of Ruckersville; three grandchildren, Lisa Roach and her friend, Paul Meadows of Ruckersville, Larry Roach, Gary Roach both of Ruckersville; two grandchildren, Brianna and Taylor; two sisters, Marie Drumheller of Charlottesville, Doris Shifflett and her husband, Ernest of Maryland; one brother, Vernon Shifflett of Charlottesville; many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors.
Ruby retired after 23 years of work at IX Silk Mill and 20 years at Siemans.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Duani, Debbie Bell and Staff for all of their help in our time of need.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
