Rylan Elizabeth Nicole Lay passed away in her mothers arms on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville. She blessed their lives 15 weeks early on July 2, 2014 at 12:18 a.m. weighing 1 lb 12 oz. and after her 4 week battle struggling from multiple infections Heaven gained an angel.
Rylan was a very strong willed and feisty little lady. She is the daughter of Ashley McCauley and Jeremy Lay and the answer to their prayers. They waited for her birth with joyful expectation and many plans for the future. During her brief visit on Earth she was able to enjoy her little red bow and being held and read to by her parents.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her grandparents, Gloria and Marvin McCauley, Charlie Branham and Bonnie Lay-Branham, her big sister, Makayla Nicole Shifflett, her aunts, Chelsee Brodine, Vicki Jenkins-Cone, Katelyn Roach, Kimberly Shifflett and Carolyn Hurt and her uncles, Ryan McCauley and Kevin Brodine.
A Celebration of Rylan’s life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff of UVA for their compassion and care shown during this difficult time and also to the family and friends for their visits, thoughts, prayers and acts of love.
