Sylvia Ann Viar, 83, passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2026, in Ruckersville, Virginia. 

She was born to Charles and Marian Viar on December 30, 1942, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Sylvia is survived by her sister, Patricia Heath, and brother-in-law, David Heath. She lived with the Heaths for the past 13 years and will be greatly missed.

Sylvia grew up in Lynchburg and graduated from E. C. Glass High School in 1961. She worked at Lynchburg Sheltered Industries for 43 years. She was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 15th, at 11 am at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Ruckersville. Immediately following the service, a buffet luncheon will be provided for guests at Fiorano Restaurant, 5924 Seminole Trail, in Barboursville. A graveside service with interment at Fort Hill Cemetery in the Apostles Garden, in Lynchburg, will be held at a later date, to be announced.

Memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg or to Spring Hill Baptist Church in Ruckersville.

The family would like to thank the staff at UVA Medical Center and at Hospice of the Piedmont for their care of Sylvia. We also thank Anita Morris and Ellen Morris for their care of Sylvia at home during her final days. A special thank you to our dear friend Vinod Sehdev, owner of Fiorano Restaurant and Bar, for providing a luncheon buffet on June 15th, immediately following the church service.
