Thomas Edward Shiflett
Thomas Edward Shiflett, 81, of Stanardsville, VA died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his home. He was born on May 2, 1931 in Charlottesville, VA to the late Edward Thurman Shiflett and Pauline Cash Shiflett Barker.
Mr. Shiflett was a member of Barboursville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors doing yard work and gardening. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by his adoring family.
He is survived by his wife, Georgie Laverne Shiflett, his son, Robert “Bobby” Shiflett of Ruckersville, his granddaughter, Kerri Shiflett of Raleigh, NC, two sisters, Frances Cason of Charlottesville and Maxine Collier of Dyke, one brother, Donald Shiflett of Troy and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family is welcoming friends and family to come by the home anytime to visit.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968 with Pastor Deborah Koontz and Pastor Thurman Collier officiating.
Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Free Union.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Barboursville United Methodist Church, PO Box 466 Gordonsville, VA 22942 and/or Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
