Wanda Lucy Brendel

Wanda Lucy Brendel, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at The Blake of Charlottesville.

Born on January 21, 1941, in Pulaski, Wisconsin, she was the beloved daughter of Louis and Lucy Rozanski (nẻe Gracyalny), and the youngest of their nine children. Wanda spent the majority of her life in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, including Woodstock and Hoffman Estates, Illinois, where she built a life centered on family, compassion, and service to others.

Wanda lived a life defined by kindness, resilience, and devotion to those she loved. She dedicated her professional life to nursing, where her gentle spirit and unwavering care touched the lives of countless patients. For Wanda, nursing was more than a career—it was a calling rooted in compassion and a deep desire to help others.

Above all, Wanda was a devoted mother to her four children from her first husband: Asif, Irfan, Nicole, and Becky. Her love for her family was constant and steadfast, and she created a home filled with warmth, comfort, and acceptance. Her daughter Nicole will miss her dearly and will always cherish the love, guidance, and strength her mother provided throughout her life.

Outside of her work, Wanda found great joy in gardening. She lovingly tended her flowers and plants, finding peace and fulfillment in watching them grow and bloom. She also had a special place in her heart for her dogs, who brought her companionship and happiness over the years. Her home was her sanctuary—a place where family gathered, laughter was shared, and love was always present.

Wanda will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her dedication to others, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured, both as a nurse and as a mother.

A graveside service will be held a Holly Memorial Gardens beginning at 11am on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
